석죽과의 여러해살이풀
개별꽃 종류로는 개별꽃, 큰개별꽃, 신개별꽃, 태백개별꽃, 덩굴개별꽃, 숲개별꽃 등이 있는데
산에서 흔하게 볼 수 있는 개별꽃은 개별꽃과 큰개별꽃이다.
큰개별꽃은 흔히 지면 가꺼운 곳에 폐쇄화(閉鎖花)가 달리지만 마디 부분에도 달리고
줄기의 기부에서 뿌리같은 줄기가 벗어 다른 개체로 자라기 때문에 모여서 자라는 경향이 있다
지면 가까운 곳과 마디부분에 폐쇄화가 달린다
폐쇄화 속에는 열매와 마찬가지로 종자가 들어 있어 번식이 왕성하다
