붓꽃과의 여러해살이풀
산기슭 양지에서 자라며 뿌리줄기가 옆으로 퍼지면서 모여난다.
꽃은 4~5월에 피며 1개의 꽃대에 1개의 노란꽃이 핀다
비슷한 꽃으로 노랑붓꽃이 있는데 잎이 2~3배 크며 꽃이 항상 2개씩 달리며 물가에서 자란다
