부게꽃나무[단풍나무과 단풍나무속]

단풍나무속 식물 중 유일하게 총상꽃차레로 꽃이 피는 작은 키 나무이다.

중부 이북의 높은 산에 자라는 커다란 손바닥 모양의 잎을 가진 단풍나무속 식물로 6~7월에 곧추선 꽃대에

연노랑색의 꽃이 핀다.

부게꽃나무를 자주 볼 수 있는 강원도에서는 북어의 사투리가 '부게'이다.

꽃 모양이 덕장에서 말린 북어를 떠올리게 하므로 '부게(북어)를 닮은 꽃이 피는 나무'에서 부게꽃나무가 되었다
