앵도나무가 맞을까요 앵두나무가 맞을까요

한글 맞춤법으로는 앵두나무로 씁니다.

앵두나무는 중국 원산으로 우리나라에 들어올 때 이름도 따라 들어왔다

중국에서는 처음에 열매가 꾀꼬리처럼 예쁘고 먹을 수 있으며 생김새는 작은 복숭아 같다고 꾀꼬리 앵(鶯)과

복숭아 도(桃)를 써서 앵도(鶯桃)라 했다

그러다 어린아이처럼 작은 복숭아라 하여 어린아이 앵과 나무 목을 합친 한자 앵두나무 앵(櫻) 자를 쓰는

앵도(櫻桃)로 변했다. 앵도, 앵두 둘을 같이 쓰는데 맞춤법으로는 앵두로 표기한다
