옥매[장미과 벚나무속]

옥같이 고운 매화란 뜻으로 옥매(玉梅)라 부르는 작은 키 나무이다.

중국 원산으로 높이 1.5m 정도 자라는 낙엽떨기 나무로, 4~5월에 하얀 눈 같은 흰색의 양성화가 여러 겹으로

1~2개씩 모여 달린다.

열매는 핵과로 둥근 모양이며, 7~8월에 붉게 익는다.
