가시연[수련과 가시연속]

궁남지에는 가시연이 한창이다

잎의 맥 위와 꽃대, 꽃받침에 커다란 가시가 있어서 가시연이다

일반 연(蓮)과  다르게 한해살이 식물로 열매가 물속에서 월동하고

봄에 새싹이 돋는다.

아이러니하게도 이 커다란 식물의 천적이 마름이라서 마름이 번지면 가시연은 살지 못한다
