개연꽃은 왜개연이나 남개연처럼 잎이 물 위에 뜨지않고 물 위로 나온다
개연 종류는 물 속잎과 물 밖의 잎이 있는데 개연도 물 속잎과 물 밖의 잎있다.
꽃도 마찬가지로 노란 꽃받침이 꽃처럼 보이고 8~9월에 피며 열매는 익으면 물컹물컹해저
