가시연[수련과]

연못에 자라는 한 해살이 풀이며 종자로 번식한다

어린잎은 작은 화살같지만 크게 자라면서 둥그렇게 되고 잎의 양면에 가시가 돋는다

꽃은 자주색으로 8~9월에 피며 종자는 둥글게 익고 물속에서 겨울을 난다

수련 및 연과 달리 1년생이고 오염에 약하며 마름이 천적이라서 마름이 있는 연못에서는

자라지 못한다
