자두나무[장미과 벚나무속]

자두나무의 순 우리말은 오얏나무이다

오얏, 옹아라고 부르던 토종 자두는 볼 수가 없고 서양에서 들어온 서양자두나무만 볼 수 있다

열매가 보랏빛(紫)이 강하고 복숭아를 닮았다는 뜻으로 '자도(紫桃)나무'라고 하다가 자두나무가 되었다
