제주의 숲속에서 자라는 여러해살이 풀이며 잎은 3~5개가 뭉처나며 겨울을 나고 다음해 봄에 스러진다

7~8월에 연한 홍자색 꽃이 핀다. 마치 꼴뚜기가 수영을 하는 듯한 모습으로'
