빨간 꽃밥이 고운 콩배나무이다.
열매가 지름 1.0 ~1.5cm로 콩처럼 작다고 콩배나무로 부른다.
3~8m 정도로 자라는작은 키 나무이며 꽃은 3~4월에 피고 열매는 10월에 녹색에서 흑색으로 익는다.
