설앵초[앵초과 앵초속]

가야산, 신불산, 남덕유산, 한라산 등 높은 산 바위틈이나  풀밭의 햇빛이 잘 드는 곳에 자라는 여러해살이풀이다.

모든 잎은 뿌리에서 나오며 길이 10cm 정도로 잎몸이 길며 줄기가 없다.

꽃은 5~6월에 피는데 뿌리에서 자란 15cm 정도로 자란 긴 꽃대에 산형꽃차레로 달린다. 

꽃부리는 홍자색이고 열편 끝이 갈라진다.
