큰조롱[박주가리과 백미꽃속]

하수오[何首烏]라는 중국명으로 더 알려진 이 식물의 국명은 큰조롱이다. 

산지(특히 바닷가)의 양지쪽에 자라는 덩굴성 여러해살이풀이며 줄기의 길이는 1~3m이다. 

꽃은 6~8월에 피는데 잎겨드랑이에서 난 꽃대 줄기에 달리며 노란빛이 도는 녹색이다. 열매는 골돌과이며 9~10월에

익으며 벌어져서 흰털이 달린 씨가 나온다.

뿌리를 약초로 사용하며 약용식물로 많이 재배한다.
