산지의 숲 속에 자라는 지생(地生) 난으로 반기생식물이다.
줄기는 높이 10~20cm이고 곧추 선다.
줄기에 달리는 잎은 1~2장으로 타원형이고 어긋나며 줄기를 감싼다.
꽃은 4~5월에 피며 흰색이고 3~6개가 이삭꽃차레로 달리며, 반쯤 벌어진다.
해외 반출 가능성이 높아 주의가 필요한 난초이다
