올괴불나무[인동과 괴불나무속]

괴불나무 종류 중에는 가장 먼저 꽃이 피고 6월쯤 열매도 빨리 익는다 하여 '빠르다' '먼저' 등을 뜻하는 '올'이 붙어

올괴불나무가 되었다. 잎이 나기 전 이른 봄에 흰색에 가까운 연분홍 꽃이 핀다.

괴불나무 류는 꽃이 둘씩 쌍으로 붙어 피고 그 자리에 열매가 역시 쌍으로 익는데 붉고 둥글며 말랑한 열매가 여름 날

늘어진 개의 불알과 닮았다 하여 개불알나무로 부르던 것이 괴불나무가 되었다
