대나무가가 나무라는 이름을 갖고 있지만 나무가 아닌 풀로 분류되듯이 이 애기풀도 이름만 풀이지
풀같이 생긴 관목이다. 양지바른 풀밭에서 자라는 여러해살이 키작은 나무이며 4~5월에 자주색의 꽃이 핀다
