중부이남의 산지에 자라는 숙근성 여러해살이 풀
4~6월에 밑을 향하는 노란색 꽃이 피며 어린 순을 나물로 먹고 뿌리과 줄기는 약으로 사용한다
비슷한 식물로 울릉도에 자라는 윤판나물아재비가 있다
