대부분의 꼭두서니과 식물은 덩굴처럼 옆으로 눕는데 이 녀석은 곧게 서거나
약간 옆으로 기울어져서 자라며 높이는 30~60cm이고 가시나 털이 없다
잎은 4개가 돌려나고 달걀 모양이며 끝을 향한 5~7맥이 있다
꽃은 휜색이며 윗부분의 겨드랑이나 끝에 달리고 꽃자루가 있다
