북방계 식물로 국내에는 강원도 일부지역에 자란다
습기가 많은 풀밭에서 자라며 전체에 길고 연한 흰털이 있으며 키는 30~100cm이다
꽃은 6~8월에 진한 주홍색으로 피는데 꽃잎은 5장으로 납작하게 벌어지고 끝이
깊게 2갈래로 갈라진다
