한국 고유종으로 깊은 산 풀밭이나, 숲 사장자리의 그늘에서 드물게 자라는 여러해살이풀이다.
뿌리 잎은 꽃이 필 때 시들고, 줄기잎은 달걀 모양의 삼각형으로 끝이 꼬리처럼 뾰족하다.
꽃은 7~9월에 자주색으로 핀다
